"How dreadfully dull," the words escaped her full, pink lips in a sigh. The woman sat on the corner of the bed she had claimed as her own, leaning forward, her elbows propped on her knees and her round chin resting in the palms of her gloved hands. Perhaps her current posture was rather unladylike, but an asylum was hardly a place for a lady. She was dressed in all white--fortunately, they had allowed her to keep her own clothing--from her head to toe, barely an inch of her ivory skin visible. She looked like an angel come to earth, or perhaps a ghost risen from the grave. Short ankle boots covered her feet and silk gloves covered her hands. A feathered fascinator was pinned into her snowy white hair. Her curly locks were half pinned up, the rest left to frame her oval-shape face in perfect spirals. Left free and loose, her hair would fall down to her waist in soft ringlets. Her bangs fell over her forehead.
She wore a lacy, white bustle dress, and it was quite clear from its fine fabric and impeccable neatness that she was a lady of high class. Underneath the dress, a corset was drawn almost impossibly tight over her already small waist--one of the perks of not needing to breathe. She was adorned with golden jewelry, laden with pearls, diamonds, and rubies. Her skin was smooth and pale like porcelain, and likewise it lacked any healthy glow of life, though some rouge was smeared over her cheeks to feign a healthy blood flow. Her lips were full and rosy, pursed together as if she was always puckering them. Her eyebrows were thin and blonde, neatly arched over her almond shaped eyes. The only thing that broke from her fair visage were her irises, which were a striking crimson that stood out all the more next to her long, white eyelashes.
It was hard to tell from her current slumped sitting position, but she was tall and slender, dainty despite her height of 5'8", though her body still possessed every womanly curve with nothing lacking. Her breast rose and fell as she drew in an unnecessary breath to let out another sigh, silent this time. What a predicament she had landed herself in, though she dared not think about what had caused this mess. She wouldn't, no, she couldn't. It would solve nothing. Grief and guilt would only hold her back. More importantly, they were feelings she had never felt before. She did not know how to cope with emotions she did not even understand.
She hated this place already. Not that she blamed anyone for institutionalizing a clearly mad woman--she just hated being confined, trapped. Plus, she was not ignorant of what asylums were. They were not truly places to rehabilitate the unwell as they would claim. They were like prisons for those who did not fit into society or those who were ill and whose families tired of caring for them. They usually did more harm than good. It was no secret that patients were often abused or even experimented on. Things were left this way not because of ignorance, but because no one really cared. The people here weren't really considered "people" at all anymore.
She considered escaping, but she was so weakened now that she wasn't sure if it was even possible, especially not since they seemed to be aware of her "condition." And where would she could go? She could not simply return to London. Everything she had there was destroyed. She had no home anymore, nowhere to go. She decided she might as well stay here contentedly as she got her bearings. Perhaps when she had a plan and somewhere to go, she would leave. But for now, she was forlorn and stricken with apathy.

The doors creaked open and a guard enterd the cell, followed by Mae.The guards nodded gruffly and then left locking the door behind him.
The diffrence between the Cell mates was striking. The only similaritiers to be made were their gender. Mae stood upright with narrowed eyes that flashed violet. She breathed in deeply despite the constrictions of her black corset and felt, as she always did when in a room with someone immaculatly dresses, as if she were wild. She twisted slightly to check on her imaginary cats. Lynxy was facing faye looking defencive, Lolita stood back a bit curious but wary, cheshire as always stood by mae's leg.
Finally Mae decided to speak, her voice was calm yet dangerous. "Stuck in here too huh? Well please refrain from killing me, creatures of your sort and I usuallyy get along.," she said it as if bored, though actually her mind was racing with thoughts and energy. "Mae by the way"

Hearing the door begin to creak open, Faye sat at attention. As she saw a guard enter, she leaped to her feet almost defensively, though she stood straight and still, her hands resting casually at her sides. She watched as the guard escorted a young lady inside before leaving, locking the door behind him. So this was her cell mate. Her gaze scanned over the woman in front of her curiously, surprised to see it was only a young, wild looking girl. Oh, how life was cruel.
She offered a curtsy, deciding that being in an asylum was no reason to disregard manners. "Stuck seems to be the appropriate word," she stated. Her lips spread into a smile, disarming though somewhat eerie, if only due to the fact that it revealed a pair of sharp, elongated canines. "I have no desire to kill you, my dear. Let us be hospitable," the words came out genuine for they were true for now, but only time would tell how long that would last. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Miss Mae. I am Faye Matthews. Faye and Mae. Our names rhyme," she mused. "It must be," her lips and tongue began to form the consonant 'd,' but she hesitated for a moment before saying, "fate."

Mae gave a little laugh, finding it genuinely amusing "quiet, fate indeed, fate is the cruel mistress of all our live, personally I'd like to pay the girl and let her go, take control of my own life as it were." Mae eyed Faye's canines with curiosity and her eyes flashed vivid purple as she let her body feel Faye's aura. "Vampire hm? I haven't seen a vampire for a long time. Always admired your race, generally the most suave of creatures. And i appreciate your manners, I used to own some myself" Mae gave a small smile. At least she had a half decent cell mate. One she hopefully wouldn't have to hurt. "so now we are aquainted.." Mae said sitiing on the other bed. Her cats sitting around her, Lynxy even daring to go near Faye. " I feel i can say that i am fond of your dress, I'm afraid my bustle has rather disintergrated" Mae looked at her limp torn skirt.
(shall we have them as friends?)

"I am a lot of things," Faye said dismissively, giving a light laugh reminiscent of the chiming of bells. "Thank you, but you do flatter me too much. I suppose manners and fine dress do not matter much in this place, but old habits are hard too shake so quickly," she said with a faint smile, wondering how long she would be staying here. Her crimson eyes swept over the room, noticing there were a total of five beds in the cell. "I wonder who our other cell mates shall be. Have you met any of them, Miss Mae?" she asked curiously.

"Well i still have some manners left, I am not the ferral child i appear to be" Mae said sweeping her own eyes across the room. "At a guess; some more unfotunate girls, who've been cruely mistaken for the mentally Insane" She mutterd biterly. "Well since i know a little of your nature, I feel it's only right you know mine. I am quite obviously a witch." Mae was still unsure of how much she could trust this vampire, so she kept the information she gave out to a low. Mae proberly wouldn't be here much longer anyway.

Miss Mercy Maeve grunted most unbecomingly as she was thrust into the cell herself, thrown in to fall to her arse. "Mrfhhh." She pressed a hand to her back with a grimace, head reeling back & fine blonde hair tumbling over her shoulders. She blinked her glassy blue eyes at the realization that she was not alone. "Oh. Aherm." Clearing her throat, she rose & dusted off her green bloomers, turning to look at the other two women. "I. ... Well. Hello." She almost smiled awkwardly, but didn't, & put her hands behind her head to scratch behind an ear before her fingers braided together. The leather of her black waist cincher creaked as she stretched, the chain across her torso jangling quietly. Her little pink mouth pursed for lack of words. Under her eyes were dark circles, & she tried not to acknowledge the fading color in her tattooed heart. She was hungry.

"another vampire! What a popular race!" mae said with some sarcasm. Mae looked with some pity at what appeared to be a small girl. "please tell us something about yourself?, as that seems to be what we're doing." she glanced down at her cats of whom Lynxy was circling the new cell mate. Mae's eyes flashed violet with power as she held her guard up.

"I suppose I'm just a slave to the latest trend." Mercy's smile was wry, eyes narrowing. "But my name is Mercy Maeve, I enjoy long walks on the beach & the chatter of squirrels, & some of my dislikes include milk & insane asylums." As she delivered this speech, she swung her left leg back & forth pendulum-like, like a child who cannot stop her play & sit still to talk to the grown ups. "& how are both of you on this fine morning?"

"alive." mae replied, somehow she felt a little inclined to Mercy, she reminded her a little of Emily in age. "what brings you here?' she asked. Sitting on the floor, cross legged and smoothing out her skirt. Her corset dug in to flesh but she ignored the pain, infact she rather liked it.

"Living still?" Mercy finally did smile genuinely, although her lips were a little too pale for it to be radiant, but her eyes twinkled. "Then the hardest part is already done, yeh?" She flopped down herself, legs akimbo, the soles of her feet blackened from lack of shoes. "We are very lucky, then. Me, I am just here for a small vacation, unfortunately I don't plan on staying long." Absently, she stretched her right leg up, stubbly knee touching her cheek & ankle over her head. She folded her leg, arm snugly underneath her knee & her rosy cheek rested against it. "So how long have we all been here? What's in store? When do we get to go outside?" Although she had spent days in Quarantine, she still held some flicker of hope that life would go on as normal, that the sun would once again kiss her curly hair & she could tumble free in the grass. Her naivety showed unabashedly on her girlish face, perhaps tainted only with a drop of denial.

"Only a few minuted in this room." Mae replied, her gaze drifting to her cats. "presumably pain will ensue and I guess we can go outside whenever we are deemed 'healthy' enough" she said dryly. She was unsure if this girl was really childish or if it was just a facade. "what's wrong with you then? hearing voices, murder and what have you?" she asked facing Mercy now and smiling slightly.

"Nah, nah, nothing too drastic." Mercy shook her little blonde head. "Just a few accidents here & there, but I don't really feel too troubled. Maybe I act troubled?" She scratched at her own chin. "But I don't hear things & I don't have unscheduled fits of crying & self-mutilation, so I think I'm better off than a lot of the girls around here. But what's this about pain?" She shifted to sit on her knees, always in movement from one gesture to another restlessly.

"Asylum's aren't cure houses or hospitals, It's where they send mad people to be out the way, or sane people to turn mad. It's a place of torture, you just have to go along with until you either die or get out." Mae said Venomously. She stood up to look out of the barred window. "you seem kind of smart, you could properly make it out if you tried..." She added. Mae lightly stroked the bars of the window, feeling the cold metal beneath her fingers, With the right magic she could easily break them, schemes and escape plans swam through her head, but she felt she had to see this thing through with Leeria first, if that fell through maybe she could make a deal with Mercy. Mae flashed a quick smile at her new cellmate.

Mercy's gaze wandered as Mae's valuable information fell upon her deaf ears. "Mm-hm, mm-hm..." She murmured absently in reply, nodding her head. She squinted back when her cellmate smiled abruptly after speaking with such ire. "Heh." She batted her eyelashes back. "So which are you, then? Becoming sane or insane?"
