Name: Keket Shadiyah Coltzan. Simply goes by Shade.
Age: 196
Birthday: October 13, 1816
Gender: Female. Due to her ability to shapeshift, however, she can change that.
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 130 lbs
Sexual Orientation: Pansexual
Relationship Status: Single
Ethnicity: Caucasian
Race: Succubus
Time Era (Modern or Victorian): Modern
Diary: TBA
Appearance
Build: Tall, slender, fit, curvy. She is very skinny, but she still possesses enough muscle definition and generous womanly curves that she is clearly not malnourished.
Hair: Long, thick, straight, black. Roughly waist-length. Often has feathers, small braids, and beads plaited in. When in direct sunlight, blue highlights can be seen. No bangs. Parted in the middle.
Eyes: Dull. Range from sapphire blue to black depending on when she has last fed.
Clothing: Normally a very skimpy, silky black dress. Always wears dark colors if not plain black. Tends to choose rather revealing outfits, and isn't afraid to wear nothing at all. She also has an infatuation with gold jewelry and gems.
Identifying Marks: Ears are pierced several times. No other distinguishing marks.
Overall Appearance: Very alluring in an exotic and almost trashy sort of way. She often wears too much makeup. Her dark eyes are framed with long, black eyelashes and black kohl eyeliner drawn in an Egyptian style. Blue eyeshadow is smeared across the delicate flesh of her eyelids. Her eyebrows are thin, black, and neatly arched. Her face is long and narrow, with a harsh and striking bone structure, but holds an unearthly sort of loveliness. Her jawline is strong and her cheekbones high. Her lips are full and painted wine red. Her long fingernails and her toenails are painted the same color. Her skin is pale, but an unmistakable olive color. She moves in a graceful and sultry manner, like a dancer, swinging her hips with each step, with fluid and serpent-like motions. The smell of jasmine and pheromones lingers in the air around her. She speaks in a smooth, low voice that is colored with a light though very strange accent.
Due to her abilities to shapeshift and create illusions, she can alter her appearance, but she usually keeps this appearance, her true self. However, often she reveals her succubus attributes. When in her succubus form, she has a pair of leathery, black, bat-like wings, though they are too small to actually provide her with flight. Two curled, obsidian ram's horns protrude from behind temples. A long, slender, spade-tipped tail snakes behind her. When angered, her fingernails will lengthen into long, black talons and her white canine teeth grow into sharp fangs.
She usually appears less than approachable, always scowling. Sometimes she will smile or laugh (though more often it's a smirk or snicker), but it is never genuine. However, many people are so distracted by charm that they do not realize this. Despite her grumpy disposition, there is something about her (as a succubus) that automatically draws others toward her.
Picture:
Personality
Likes: To be left alone. Making others miserable. Red wine. Popcorn. Really bad soap operas. Warm, dry weather.
Dislikes: People in general. Vampires and zombies/undead. Men who are unfaithful. Cold weather. Water/rain/snow. Feeding.
Fears: She has a crippling fear of any body of water much larger than a bathtub. She fears that the only thing she has left, her hold over others through her unnatural attractiveness or psychic abilities, may one day begin to fail, leaving her completely powerless and helpless with no control over others.
Goals: To make everyone around her as miserable as she is and to find a way to ultimately end her existence.
Self Esteem Level: She seems incredibly confident, but this is only a ploy to hide the fact that her self esteem is quite low.
Skills/Strengths: Psychic abilities (mind control, mind reading, suggestion, creating illusions, sensing emotions or intentions, etc.). Shapeshifting (not into other creatures/animals--she can merely alter her "human" appearance and also choose to hide her wings, tail, and horns). Lying, charm, manipulation, seduction... ultimately, almost all of her abilities are meant to bend others to her will. Can manipulate shadows. Immortality and regeneration. She is also an exceptional cook.
Weaknesses: Those with a strong enough mind and will can resist her seduction and psychic abilities, leaving her rather powerless, since she lacks any physical strength/skill. Must feed on a regular basis or grow weak. She has self-destructive habits, and her depression, quick temper, and unstable mental health give her difficulty in making rational decisions. She sometimes experiences delusions and hallucination, leading to occasional mental breakdowns. She makes few friends (and the ones she does make, she usually ends up betraying or chasing away) and many enemies. She has a soft spot for children and animals.
Overall Personality:
Shade is very self-destructive and likes to take out her pain and grief on others, even complete strangers. She is racked with despair and seems unable to move on from the troubles of her past. She never gets close to anyone and merely uses others for her own enjoyment. Secretly she feels guilty for all the things she has done and continues to do. She is emotionally unstable and will sometimes have breakdowns or delusions. She no longer considers herself human, thinking of herself more as an object or what`s left of something that once was a living, feeling human being. Her pessimism and hatred for everyone and everything can make her seem haughty, but truly she despises herself more than she does anyone else. She is self-loathing, self-destructive, and often suicidal.
When not hungry, Shade is quiet, dull and distant, and wants nothing to do with people and shies away from any sort of physical contact. Often she can be rude and self-centered, not caring for others but only wanting to bring them pain. She hides her despair and never shows any happiness she may feel, showing only anger or disinterest instead. When bored or looking to feed, she is very flirty, sensual, and likes to tease her prey. She likes to toy with and destroy others` lives, and for that reason she will feign friendliness or even affection.

History:
Shade was born in Egypt, in the Kingdom of Astale. Her father was the king of this kingdom, and her mother of course the queen. She was their first child, so until a brother was born she would be the heir to the throne. She was taught everything a future ruler should know, but also everything a proper wife should know. A few years after Shade was born her mother gave birth to a son, but Shade`s schooling was continued in case anything should happen to her baby brother. Most of Shade`s time was spent in her lessons, and though she learned fast and well, she had no desire to learn such things. After all, she was just a child, and she would rather be outside playing. In her free time outside of her lessons, Shade`s parents were usually busy and there were no children to play with in the palace save her young brother. She would often make the palace guards be her playmates, and of them her favorite to torture--I mean--play with, was a very young guard, only a few years older than her, named Syro. He was the one to give her the name Shade, after he said to her, "Keket? That`s no name for a cute a little girl."
But of course she grew, and soon enough Shade was no longer a child. By the time she was 17, it was clear that Shade would not be the heir to the throne, and she felt relieved. She loved her home--her family, her palace, her people, her kingdom, her desert--but she longed to see the world. As much as she disliked most of her lessons, she had always loved hearing of other far away, almost magical places and longed for something more than a sea of sky and sand. She told her parents of this wish, and they agreed to let her go abroad for a year or two, just enough to satisfy this longing. On her 18th birthday her family held a gathering to celebrate her birthday and adulthood, and her departure. She left the next day, accompanied by a few of Astale`s men to escort her as far as the coast.
She boarded a ship, and left behind her home and her protection. She was amazed by the sight of the ocean, and she found it wondrous, though it made her ill to travel across. Eventually she made it to her first destination: a small and fairly empty and wild island off of the coast of Africa. She was supposed to be there only a few days while she waited for a steamer to arrive to take to her to America. She went to the inn where arrangements where supposed to have been made for her to stay, but the woman at the desk said they hadn`t heard anything about it and didn`t have a room booked for her, but they had rooms available. She reached for her purse to pay for a room, but found her money was missing. She was beginning to panic, but then and old woman who had been standing nearby in the hotel lobby approached her and said, "I`ve been looking for some help around my house. If you`ll work for me a while, I`ll give you food and a place to stay." Having no other choice, Shade graciously agreed and followed the woman to her house.
The woman lived in a large but run-down house that stood as a stark contrast to the small huts in which most of the island`s people resided. The house was mostly empty, though. The woman lived alone, save for another person she had hired to help take care of her home, a man named Zeik. Shade didn`t understand why Zeik seemed so miserable to be there and looked at her with so much pity. It irritated her, but he was the only company she had aside from the old woman, so she spoke to him when she wasn`t busy cleaning, cooking, or organizing books in the woman`s fantastically large library. Shade wasn`t sure how much time she spent at the crone `s home, but the steamship that was supposed to come for her never arrived.
Growing curious of all the unexplained things that happened since her arrival on the island, Shade asked the crone, but received no helpful answers. However, Zeik reluctantly provided the truth: the old woman was a practicer of voodoo who had made him, and now Shade, her immortal slaves to do her bidding for all eternity. There was supposedly a curse that would take affect upon them should they leave her home. At first, fearing the curse and reluctant to leave Zeik who she had fallen with, Shade stayed in the crone's home. However, eventually, wishing to escape a life of eternal servitude to someone with evil intent, she decided to leave and convinced Zeik to go with her.
They fled to America, bought a home, and got married. Their lives were happy and normal enough at first, no signs of the curse. They had two children--a set of twins, boy and girl, named Mia and Miles. But when the twins were still just toddlers, an assassin attempted to shoot Shade with a pistol, but Zeik took the bullet instead and died. Shade was consumed with grief, and confusion. Had their immortality faded when they left the crone's home? Was that part of the curse? By then her parents and brother back home in Egypt were already dead, as well. All she had known and loved was gone. The only thing she had left to live for was her children. She did keep living for them, though not necessarily always by her own choice, but emotionally she was never the same. Her anger and despair turned her bitter and unstable. She attempted suicide many times, but never succeeded.
Shade heard news of trouble in Egypt not long after her father's death. A few years after she had left Astale, a man named Scimitir, who had been exiled from his family, had formed his own kingdom named Zyath to the west of Astale. The two kingdoms had been feuding over a oasis city between the kingdoms called Sakhmet. It originally belonged to Astale, but Zyath claimed it as its own. Being far from the Nile and any of its tributaries, the oasis, which also served as a Fountain of Youth of sorts, was of vital importance, the only source of water, and eternal youth. In order to try to settle the dispute, a marriage was arranged between Prince Daggers, Scimitir`s son, and Princess Iseizu, a powerful priestess and the daughter of Astale`s current ruler, Shade`s nephew, the son of her now deceased younger brother. But before the marriage could be arranged, tensions ran high during a discussion and Scimitir threatened Astale`s pharaoh, so the marriage was called off. Sci and his son were furious. That night Zyath`s army unexpectedly marched through Sakhmet invaded the oasis city and all of Astale, killed innocent citizens and royalty alike, and claimed the city of Sakhmet. Everyone in both royal families was killed but Daggers and Iseizu. Sci and the pharaoh of Astale had killed each other. Enraged at his parents death and the fact that he was no longer engaged to Iseizu, the beautiful, powerful woman he was smitten with, Daggers vowed to kill every last member of the Coltzan family and take their kingdom. He became the pharaoh of Zyath and changed its name to the Kingdom of Zephyr, and Iseizu became the ruler of the kingdom of Astale. Both kingdoms were torn apart, with hundreds of citizens dead, their royal families wiped out, and lead by new, young, inexperienced rulers. The feuding stopped briefly as the two kingdoms tried to rebuild and find order.
Having finally found a new purpose, Shade returned to Egypt with her two children, who were adults by then. While wandering through the desert, she ran into Daggers, though neither of them knew who the other one was. Their conversation started out normal and casual enough until Shade told him her name. Daggers vowed that he would kill her. She scoffed, rolled her eyes, and told him good luck. Once back in Astale, Shade had more of a claim to the throne than Iseizu did, and more knowledge of how to rule, so she ousted Iseizu from power and became Queen. Daggers attempted to kill Iseizu, but she and the group of Priestess who took her in after she had been kicked from the throne killed him instead and for a while Iseizu ruled over Zephyr.
Syro, who obtained immortality through the oasis, became Shade`s personal servant, bodyguard, and head of the palace guards. There was peace and quiet for a while, until Daggers came back from the dead, attacked Iseizu and forced himself on her, and let her live in hopes of her producing an heir for him. He then took back Zephyr. The fighting started again, though this time because of more personal reasons than a simple feud over an oasis. The dispute was more between what was left of the royal families rather than the kingdoms themselves. Shade and Daggers often fought verbally and physically, and Daggers then did the same to Shade as he had Iseizu, giving her a daughter named Nasari, and made several attempts on her life. Shade and Daggers despised each other, but since they were both immortal, they could never seem to successfully kill each other.
In all the time they spent arguing and futilely trying to kill each other, their anger cooled and Shade and Daggers actually developed an odd sort of friendship and mutual understanding, and though tensions always ran high, the two kingdoms were more or less at peace. The two monarchs kept bickering like they always had, but now it was in good nature. Eventually the feelings of friendship grew to something more, but both were in denial, too prideful to admit that they no longer utterly hated each other. Daggers half-joking sexual comments were hard to ignore, but he had already taken three wives, including Iseizu. Still, after several years Shade finally gave in to his charms, slept with him, and they admitted their love for each other. Shade was jealous of the other women in his life, who all for some reason seemed content with sharing him, and her jealousy irritated him. After they set aside all hurt feelings from the past and got married, Daggers took yet another wife after promising Shade he wouldn`t. Even though he had five women to choose from, Daggers was still promiscuous and adulterous and even had affairs with other men. He claimed he couldn`t help it because he had a disease and an addiction. However, Shade cheated on him as well, first with Zeik when he came back from the dead (as it turns out, her truly was immortal), and then with Syro, who had been at the time married to Fennece, Daggers` mother, who had been revived thanks to a favor Daggers had asked of a demi-god.
Their unfaithfulness and their past hatred threatened constantly to tear Shade and Daggers apart and caused many arguments. But Shade was dependent on Daggers. The painful highs and lows were better than the constant low she had felt since Zeik had died. From time to time she was actually happy, but she knew her emotional health and her sanity were suffering from the unstable relationship. She tried to find peace and normalcy. Her and Daggers combined the two kingdoms of Zephyr and Astale into Zestale, much to the disapproval of several of both kingdoms' inhabitants. They both stepped down and let Quryan, Daggers' eldest son and the son of Iseizu rule along with his wife Mia, Shade`s eldest daughter. But the peace was wrecked when Shade slept with Daggers' mother and Syro`s wife, Fennece. Fennece was sent to an asylum in London, England for the second time (the first time was because she snapped when she found out about Shade and Syro`s affair and learned that Shade was pregnant with Syro`s child), and Shade was sent along with her.
The workers and the owner of the asylum were probably just as mentally as unsound as the patients. The asylum was suspiciously shut down, and not all of the patients made it back home. Shade had spent her time in the asylum bitterly resenting Daggers for sending her away for crimes no worse and no different than the ones he had committed, and without even telling her goodbye. She refused to go back to Egypt. She saw no reason to go on. She had no kingdom to rule, her six kids were back in Egypt and mostly old enough to take care of themselves, some even with kids of their own, and the three men she cared for were back in Egypt, two of which she felt had betrayed her and the other she felt deserved better than an unfaithful, cruel, emotionally unstable woman. While in the asylum, the old woman`s curse had fully set and she realized her new nature. She was a succubus. She had to feed off of sex and souls to live. As distressed as she was to learn this, she soon realized she did indeed have a reason to keep living (since she couldn`t quite die, as much as it would have pleased her) and a way to get back at Daggers and prove him wrong, no matter how obscure. He said he couldn`t help his unfaithfulness. He said it was a disease and an addiction. Well, for her it was a necessity. He said he couldn`t resist an addiction. She was bent on resisting a necessity. And if she died from it, so be it.
Shade tried to remain celibate, essentially starving herself. But in London a vampire named Aurel tried to woo her and eventually, in her starvation, she gave in. She decided her plan for revenge wasn`t ruined. Instead of proving that she didn`t need to sleep with anyone, she would just prove that she could remain faithful to one person. As she spent more time with Aurel, she began to actually care for him, but then he disappeared. She learned later from another vampire she knew, Faye, that he had realized he had only wanted her because she reminded of his past lover, not because of her own character or being.
Shade attempted to remain abstinent again, and starved herself to what would have been the point of death if she had been able to die. Syro came to England, hoping Shade was still there, in order to try to convince her to go back to Egypt with him. Shade refused, but Syro was persistent. He stayed in London with her, encouraged her to feed from him (an offer she accepted), and continued to protect her and try to persuade her to go home.
Shade, however, fell into despair more and more everyday. Heartbroken to be away from Daggers and home, she attempted to drown herself in the ocean, but a man saved her. She shouted at him to let her go and leave her alone, but he wouldn`t listen. She knew he wouldn`t let her out of his sight for a while lest she try to harm herself again, and so she was desperate to get away from this stranger. She saw someone else on the beach, so she pretended the man was harming her in hopes that the newcomer would try to free her from her savior. The man, Scavere the undead, saw through her act but she pleaded with him to get the other man to leave her alone anyway. He asked her what he would get in return for helping her, and in her desperation and frustration she hastily replied, "I will give you whatever you want!" Scavere attacked the man who had saved Shade, and after Shade escaped, they met up and discussed the terms of Shade`s repayment.
He didn`t want sex or money like she had expected and could have easily given him. Instead he told her that he was on a mission to kill humans for revenge, and he needed her help to catch some trickier targets. She could seduce and feed from them, and while they were distracted, he could kill them. She didn`t want to do something so terrible. But she was planning on trying to kill herself again soon, so why not do favor for someone she owed and have a reason to exist until she finally did kill herself? Her first target was a necromancer named Para, who she recognized as her friend Destiny`s sweetheart. She never expected any of their victims would be someone she knew. She told Scavere she wouldn`t do it, but he told her some nasty threats, so she went through with it. At the last second she tried to stop it, but it was in vain. Para was already under her spell and she couldn`t resist her hunger. The next time she saw Scavere, she told him off and said she refused to continue helping him. He threatened to kill her if she didn`t hold up her end of the deal. She still refused, and instead of killing her he brutally attacked her and raped her. She was left diseased, terribly scarred and beaten almost beyond recognition, and nearly dead.
Thankfully Syro found her bloody and unconscious body and took her back to safety, nursing her back to health over the course of several months. Even after she recovered, though, Shade still had to lie low, with Scavere still on the loose and Faye, Destiny`s guardian, furious at what had happened and bent on spilling Shade`s blood. By then Shade had given up on her plans for revenge on Daggers. The longer she remained in London, the deeper she fell into despair and homesickness. By that point she was willing to swallow her pride, return to Zestale and beg Daggers and her family to accept her back, but she knew it was too late for that. She had learned from Syro, who still kept in touch with the royal family, that Daggers had a new lover, a man. While Shade was in London, Daggers` other wives had been killed by a maniac trying to take out the royal family, but a man Daggers had already taken an interest in, an elf named Alex, saved Daggers before he could be killed and helped him overcome his sorrow at the sudden blow of prematurely losing all of his wives at once. The two men soon fell in love, and Daggers was faithful to Alex, even going so far as to wait until they married to lay together. Their relationship seemed to be normal, slow-paced, and healthy.
Ultimately, Shade began to formulate a plan. She couldn`t go on being so miserable with no hope of salvation or recovery. Syro had mentioned that the royal family of Zestale was holding a formal ball as a family reunion of sorts, trying to convince Shade to go with him. She told him she had no interest in going, so Syro remained in London with her. However, Shade did in fact go, on her own, slipping away unbeknownst to Syro. Before she made it to the ballroom, Shade ran into Fennece. After several minutes of arguing and taunting, Shade revealed her plan to Fennece: to speak to HS, the demi-god and son of Anubis who had so often done favors for the royal family and resided in Sakhmet, and beg him to grant her a real, complete death--no afterlife, no more memories and feelings. Fennece didn`t believe Shade would go through with it, and then Shade made her way into the ballroom to see her family one last time.
Shade`s family was surprised and delighted to see her, but they were tense, knowing that Daggers and Alex would soon arrive as well. And soon they did. Speaking to him for the first in several years, the last time being before she was sent to the asylum, Shade asked to speak with Daggers in private. He was skeptical but he agreed, leading Shade out into the hallway. The two apologized for all they had done to each other and admitted that they still cared for each other, but Shade knew that even so Daggers only had eyes for Alex and wanted to be with only him. Shade didn`t tell Daggers of her true plan, but told him she was a going very far away and never coming back. Daggers, distraught at permanently losing the last of his wives just when he thought that she had returned home, begged Shade not to leave for the sake of her family and herself. Shade told him, however, that her family no longer needed her and as Fennece had told her earlier, everyone was better off without her. Deciding he couldn`t talk the stubborn Shade out of something once her mind was made up, the two said their goodbyes.
Shade went to HS`s temple and spoke to the demi-god, and reluctantly he agreed to her request, though he warned her he wasn`t certain if he could give her what she wished. When the ritual was over, Shade woke up on a beach in England. She was enraged to still be alive and in the mortal realm. With her last hope gone she snapped, losing her last bit of sanity and stability. From then on, her life was only about feeding and making others as miserable as she. She remained in London before she began to wander the world.
She was found on the street one day in the midst of a hallucination, collapsed and muttering to herself, snapping at anyone who came near her and frantically fighting off anyone who tried to touch her. When at last she was subdued and captured, she was given a mental health evaluation and sent to the Asylum, institutionalized for the second time in her life.
